SING It, Move It, Sign It! will bring together together the performing talents of MiXiT, Hands & Voices and Chilli Bon Bon on June 26 to mark Accessible Arts & Media's 33rd anniversary in York.

The 7pm concert will take place at New Earswick Bowls Club. "Our inclusive arts charity champions and celebrates the talents of adults with learning difficulties and disabilities," says managing director Rose Kent. "What better way to celebrate our 33rd birthday than with a gig featuring these three incredible performance groups."

MiXiT, the ground-breaking inclusive pop group from County Durham, blew everyone away when they performed in York for the first time last year. "Made up of both disabled and non-disabled singers, this hugely talented group have performed all over the UK to massive audiences and they can’t wait to bring their joyful celebration of all things pop to York again," says Rose.

Hands & Voices, York’s first singing and signing choir, pioneered their form of inclusive music making more than 15 years ago. "The choir exists to enable people with learning and communication difficulties to express themselves through creativity and performance, with many never having been given this opportunity before," says Rose.

"Through sheer joy and exuberance, they bring their own mischievous style to the mix and they’re always a thrill to watch."

Chilli Bon Bon are an inclusive contemporary dance and drama project, set up by the Brunswick Social Club for both disabled and non-disabled performers in York. "They’ll be easing everyone into trying out their dance moves, in time for the DJ to take to the decks as Accessible Arts & Media wrap up the night with a birthday disco," says Rose.

Summing up the mood of celebration surrounding the concert, she adds: "For us at Accessible Arts & Media, inclusion is all about changing the way we think about each other, bringing out the best in people and showing how much fun we have together. There’s no better way of sharing this than with a gig featuring some of the area’s most talented performers. I challenge anyone to come to this gig and not leave with a huge smile on his or her face."

Tickets cost £7, concessions £4, on 01904 626965 or by emailing info@aamedia.org.uk. All funds raised on the day will go towards supporting the work of Accessible Arts & Media.
