MANCHESTER five-piece The Slow Show are heading across the Pennines for tonight's gig in the Leeds Brudenell Social Club's Games Room.

"Leeds will be a special place for us to play, northern towns always are," says vocalist Rob Goodwin. "Our bass player, James Longden, is originally from Leeds, so it's a nice homecoming for him, and playing in such a great venue is an honour for us. The brass arrangements in our music are massively influenced by northern brass bands, so to play these songs live in Leeds will be fitting."

The Slow Show released their debut album, White Water, earlier this year, from which Augustine will be issued as a single on June 29 on Haldern Pop Recordings. The Mancunians were the first British group to be signed to this German label.

Goodwin and co also have unveiled a stop-motion video for the album track Testing, directed by animator Paul ‘Gripper’ Flannery, best known for his work for the children's television show Postman Pat.

Tonight, tickets will be available on the door from 7.30pm.
