GILBERT O'Sullivan has cancelled next month's tour of England "due to unforeseen circumstances" Among the eight dates to bite the dust is the Grand Opera House in York on June 16.

"I would like to take this opportunity to apologise to all of my fans for any inconvenience and disappointment caused," says the Irish-born singer-songwriter, who hopes to tour again later in the year, with further updates to come on his website, gilbertosullivan.co.uk

O'Sullivan had been charging £40 per ticket. Purchasers can acquire a full refund from the point of purchase, in the case of the Opera House on 0844 871 3024.

Best known for the 1970s' hits Nothing Rhymed, Alone Again (Naturally), the chart-topping Clair and Get Down and Why Oh Why Oh Why, the 68-year-old O'Sullivan is to release his 23rd studio album, Latin ala G, on June 8. This set of original O’Sullivan songs was inspired by Peggy Lee’s Latin-inflected albums Latin ala Lee!, from 1960, and Olé ala Lee! a year later, and was recorded in Spain with a cast of Spanish musicians.
