YORKSHIRE indie music night Charm is returning for the first time in seven years for a special show at Major Tom’s Social, in The Ginnel, Harrogate, on March 26.

The 7.30pm double bill will comprise one of the Leeds DIY music scene’s most exciting live bands and one of Harrogate’s most inventive and talented musicians.

Famed for bringing the likes of Wild Beasts, Gruff Rhys, I Like Trains and The Grammatics to Harrogate, the Charm reunion night will star Cowtown, fresh from supporting Deerhoof on their British tour, and Dan Webster, frontman of the art pop band The Birdman Rallies. The night also will feature visuals by VJ Quadrod, who will mix the sounds of the Charm “mix” live.

Launched by Graham Chalmers and James Littlewood in December 1998 in a tie-in with their cult music mag Charm, this gig will be the first time the original team of Charm collaborators has worked together in more than ten years.

“Cowtown are a high energy, unconventional but poppy three-piece, who are popular favourites at Leeds’ famous Brudenell Social Club and have three brilliant albums under their belt, most recently Dudes Vs Bad Dudes on the Audacious Art Experiment label,” says Graham.

“Performing solo for Charm, Dan Webster has just released the latest album by his band The Birdman Rallies, Real River.”

Look out too for the culinary return of Dicky’s Famous Buffet and for the Charm reunion concert poster, designed by Richard McTague, co-owner of RedHouse Originals art gallery in Harrogate, in the style of a vintage, typically wordy Velvet Underground poster.
