POCKLINGTON Arts Centre launches its first season of English National Opera satellite broadcasts on Wednesday with Verdi’s La Traviata, live from the London Coliseum in cinematic HD.
Directed by Peter Konwitschny, the ENO production reaches to the heart of the opera’s themes of passionate love and tragic death and is considered to be ideal for newcomers to opera with its contemporary staging and a running time of less than two hours.
The cast is led by Violetta Elizabeth Zharoff as Violetta, Ben Johnson as Alfredo, Anthony Michaels-Moore as Germont, Clare Presland as Flora and Paul Hopwood as Gaston.
Tickets for the 7.30pm broadcast cost £14 or £10 for under-21s on 01759 301547 or at pocklingtonartscentre.co.uk
