OXJAM’S series of fundraising concerts in York for Oxfam in 2014 will climax with the Oxjam Music Festival on Saturday.

Dusk, The Yorkshire Terrier, Sotano, 1331, The Spread Eagle and St Sampson’s Square all will play their part in an event that will run from 1pm to the early hours.

This year the money raised will go towards Oxfam’s response to the Ebola crisis in West Africa, where the number of suspected cases has exceeded 8,000 and more than 4,500 people have died.

Two of Oxjam’s York organisers, marketing co-ordinator and Hannah Darnborough and Oxjam Takeover manager Emily Segeran, say they hope this weekend’s event can donate around £2,000 to Oxfam, with wristband tickets on sale at £6 in advance online at wegottickets.com/oxjam and in person at Oxfam’s shop in Goodramgate and bookshop in Low Petergate.

The Oxjam wristbands can also be bought for £8 on the day from any of the venues, allowing entry to all venues.

St Sampson’s Square will host an afternoon of busking by Toby Burras, Dan Webster, David Ward Maclean and Oxfam Fundraisers from 1pm to 5pm; Sotano, in Little Stonegate, will present Zak Ford, Robin Pickford, Spoken Word Poets, Bryony Drake and Toby Burras between 2pm and 5pm; and The Yorkshire Terrier, in Stonegate, will have music from 4pm to midnight.

Taking part will be Ghost Of Electricity, Phoebe Marshall, Amy Greene, The Beggars Bunce, Paul Lewis, Jimbo Doomface, Completely Bananas and Dan Webster.

1331, in Grape Lane, will be in action from 6pm to 11pm with a line-up of Two Reasons Why, Rachel Croft, According To Eve, Lion Papers, Kymberley Kennedy and Soph DJ, while Dusk, in New Street, will turn the spotlight on Amy May Ellis, Katie Lou McCabe, Sam Griffiths, Creatures, The Lungs, Bull, Animated and Juvenile Summer between 6.30pm and midnight.

The event will conclude at The Spread Eagle, in Walmgate, with Bang Bang Romeo from 10pm to 11pm, Redstar from 11pm to midnight and Common People DJs from midnight till late. All the festival times can be found on the Facebook page, Oxjam York Takeover 2014 and a programme will be available on the day.

During 2014, Oxjam has presented an acoustic Sunday concert in the grounds of Grays Court; acoustic nights at The Habit, The Hop, City Screen’s Basement bar, the Golden Fleece, Last Drop Inn and Woolpack Inn; a reggae night at The Spread Eagle and a punk rock night at Gibson’s Rock Cafe.
