THE Yorkshire Youth Choir presents An Evening Of Choral Entertainment at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre, York, tomorrow night.

The choir takes young singers aged 10 to 21 from all over Yorkshire but, like many arts organisations, has had its funding cut and only just survives from year to year. Consequently, this summer concert is an extra event that aims to publicise the choir both to increase the audience and to recruit new singers.

The latest residential course began on Monday this week at Queen Ethelberga's School, at Thorpe Underwood Hall, Thorpe Green Lane, York, culminating in tomorrow's 7.30pm performance.

One parent, Mrs Jo Hartley, says: "The quality of music, performance and programming is outstanding. It's an auditioned choir that offers bursaries to those with talent who cannot afford the residential courses, which are run twice a year, at Easter and in the summer, with a concert at the end of each week."

Past concerts have been held at Dewsbury Town Hall; now comes the Jo Ro night, for which tickets are available at £7.50 on 01904 623568, online at yorktheatreroyal.co.uk, in person at York Theatre Royal and on the door.
