THE Magnolia Sisters make their way to The Band Room, Low Mill, Farndale, near Kirkbymoorside, on Monday night.
“It’s exclusive, it’s intimate, it’s Cajun and it’s Creolem, but The Magnolia Sisters are so much more too,” says Band Room promoter Nigel Burnham.
“To be sure, they excel with their dance-hall favourites and beautiful front-porch ballads from the south west of Louisiana, but legendary Sisters lynchpin Ann Savoy has also recorded a Grammy-nominated album with Linda Rondstadt.
“The Sisters’ sublime Acadian harmonies recall Kate and Anna McGarrigle at their peak, and this female folklorist supergroup of Savoy, Jane Vidrine, Anya Burgess and Lisa Trahan have been described as the missing link between a bayou Fairport Convention and a feistier, female Beausoleil. So hey, mon Dieu! Let’s roll out the red carpet and Allons danser!”
Tickets for the 7.30pm show are on sale on 01751 432900 or at thebandroom.co.uk
