YORK Late Music welcomes the La Mer Trio for the first time this weekend.

Formed in London in 2010, the trio comprises three award-winning soloists who graduated from the Royal Academy of Music and Guildhall School of Music and Drama: Renate Sokolovska on flute, Maja Wegrzynowska on viola and Hannah Stone, Royal Harpist to Prince Charles.

They will be performing trio works by William Mathias, Sally Beamish and ToruTakemitsu, plus Salvatore Sciarrino’s L’addio A Trachis for solo harp and Debussy’s Syrinx for solo flute. Saturday’s concert also includes Michael Parkin’s Courting Rites Of Cranes and Timothy Raymond’s Duet for Flute and Viola.

Both Parkin and Raymond will give a pre-concert talk, in conversation with Edward Caine, from the University of York music department, with the extra incentive of a complimentary glass of wine for all who attend this 6.45pm event.

• Tickets are available online at latemusic.org and on the door.
