DON’T cause a commotion over this news, but Lloyd Cole’s show at Selby Town Hall tomorrow night has sold out.

“Through both his lauded work fronting The Commotions and his more eclectic solo efforts, Lloyd established himself as one of the most articulate, acute songwriters of the post-punk era,” says Selby Town Council arts officer Chris Jones.

“Lloyd first found fame in the 1980s as leader of The Commotions, whose debut, Rattlesnakes, was included in the NME’s top 100 albums of all time, while its follow up, Easy Pieces, produced two top 20 singles. He has released 12 solo studio albums, covering styles from folk, rock and orchestral pop to psychedelia, ambient electronica and krautrock. His latest record, Standards, is regarded by many as his finest work yet.”

Doors open at 7.30pm for tomorrow’s 8pm start. Cole will be playing alone.
