SPIERS & Boden are to concentrate on their folk big band Bellowhead for the foreseeable future after the curtain falls on the dextrous duo’s spring tour.
Not surprisingly, Sunday’s 8pm show at Pocklington Arts Centre by the two-time winners of the BBC Radio 2 Folk Award for Best Duo has sold out.
John Spiers, melodeon and concertina, and John Boden, vocals, fiddle and guitar, have made spontaneous, English folk-punk their loud and proud stomping ground, presenting traditional stories and dance music on only a few acoustic instruments.
Bellowhead’s 11-piece line-up will play their fusion of folk, funk, rock, jazz, world, music hall and classical music at York Barbican on November 12.
