MEMBERS of two York choirs who joined forces to sing on Eduardo Niebla’s next album are now raising their voices on their own behalf.

The recording took place last month at Niebla’s North Yorkshire studios near Melmerby and featured singers from Millegro and Prima Vocal Ensemble, both run by musical director Ewa Salecka and her pianist partner Greg Birch.

Tomorrow night, the 100 voices that make up Prima Vocal Ensemble will be in concert at St Michael Le Belfrey Church, next to York Minster. The 7.30pm concert will include music by Puccini, Mozart, Verdi, John Rutter, Howard Goodall, Eric Whitacre and others. Tickets are available on 01904 623568 on the door from 7pm.

On Saturday, December 1, at 7.30pm, Millegro will be in concert at Joseph Rowntree Theatre, Haxby Road, York, marking their third anniversary.

This showcase of York vocal talent is known for their imaginative choral repertoire and powerful performances.

The concert will be hosted by Neil Foster from BBC Radio York and programme sales will be in support of Jessie’s Fund.

Tickets can be booked on 01904 623568 or will be available on the door from 7pm.
