Directed by Tony Scott in 1986, this all-action movie follows the exploits of Maverick (Tom Cruise), who aspires to be top gun at the US Navy Fighters Weapons School at San Diego. Cruise’s arrogant piece of officer material climbs the ladder of fly-boy success, falling in love with his aeronautics instructor (Kelly McGillis) en route.
