CITY Screen, York is marking the run of Richard Linklater's American college comedy Everybody Wants Some!! with a competition in The Press for one winner to take home four prizes.
Those prizes are: an Everybody Wants Some!! branded T-shirt; an Everybody Wants Some!! branded canvas bag; Richard Linklater's groundbreaking, 12-years-in-the-making 2014 movie Boyhood on DVD and Linklater's 1993 coming-of-age campus film Dazed And Confused on DVD.
In Everybody Wants Some!!, over a long pre-term weekend, a group of college baseball players roam from their ramshackle accommodation around bars and parties, searching for action, sexual and otherwise.
This stratagem is as familiar to filmgoers globally as it is to American teenagers, and indeed to writer-director Linklater, the baseball-playing alumnus of a Texas college.
Everybody Wants Some's group of college baseball players
Everybody Wants Some!! loosely follows the formula Linklater established in Dazed And Confused, banding together disparate personalities such as freshman Jake (Blake Jenner), swaggering team captain McReynolds (Tylwer Hoechlin) and owlish, pipe-smoking Finnegan (Glen Powell).
Their exploits and initially uneasy camaraderie are played out by a young, good-looking and largely little-known cast, with touchingly genuine love interest when Jake meets arts student Beverly (Zoey Deutch). Tickets can be booked on 0871 902 5726 or at picturehouses.com/cinema/York_Picturehouse
