THUNDERBIRDS are go at City Screen, York, for a weekend dedicated dedicated to the work of creators Gerry and Sylvia Anderson as the series' 50th anniversary approaches.

The new documentary Filmed In Supermarionation (PG) will be shown at 1.15pm on Saturday, telling the story of how the Andersons pioneered what was to become their filmmaking trademark, the puppetry technique of Supermarionation.

Director Stephen La Riviere incorporates new interviews and previously unseen archive footage in his 119-minute celebration of the studio and the shows that became famous worldwide.

The Supermarionation Weekender continues on Sunday afternoon with This Is Supermarionation (PG) , a 215-minute compilation of Gerry and Sylvia Anderson's television shows, shown on the big screen at 1.15pm.

The running order will be Stingray: The Pilot ; Joe 90: Hijacked; Four Feather Falls: Gunfight On Main Street; Thunderbirds: Terror In New York City ; Supercar: False Alarm; The Secret Service: More Haste Less Speed; Fireball XL5: Space City Special and Captain Scarlet & The Mysterons: The Mysterons.
