YORK artist Roddie Harris has this week been preparing a large ‘stained glass’ image on paper to hang outside Pyramid Gallery tomorrow.
The image will be cut up at 2.30pm and sold to the public in return for donations to St Leonard’s Hospice of no less than £5 a piece.
The Stonegate gallery hopes to raise more than £600 for the charity by selling artworks and through a raffle of paintings donated by the contributing artists.
“The cutting up of the painting means that as many people as possible can own a part of this work,” says Roddie.
“It is also linked to the idea of a river falling away in pieces and echoes a tree losing its leaves at this time of year.”
