Paintings, sculptures, ceramics and other works of art have gone on display in the 35th Ryedale open art exhibition.

The exhibition, in the Milton Rooms at Malton, showcases the work of Ryedale’s many talented artists and is expected to be visited by more than a thousand people. Organisers Yvette Turnbull, of Ryedale District Council, said: “The show is always very well supported, but this year we have a large number of artists who have never shown with us before. I hope that means that lots of new artists are being inspired to pick up a paintbrush for the first time.”

For the second year, the show is sponsored by Crombie Wilkinson Solicitors. Senior partner Jennifer Bartram said: “As a local firm who is very involved in the community, we are very pleased to be again asked to sponsor the exhibition. We thoroughly enjoy attending this event and seeing the artists work on display.

“The exhibition is a fabulous display of local, excellent talent and is enjoyed by many people and we are very proud to be associated with it.”

The show is open until Saturday from 10am to 4pm, and admission is free.
