York Art Society will hold its 191st (Spring) Exhibition in the Merchant Adventurers’ Hall, Piccadilly, York, from this evening until next Friday.
On display in Europe’s finest medieval hall will be a colourful display of nearly 200 paintings in a variety of media by society members, and most of the work will be for sale.
The society has flourished since the 1920s, drawing together enthusiastic amateur and professional artists who meet to share their interests and to promote the visual arts in York and surrounding areas.
The exhibition will be launched with an informal open evening tonight at 7.30pm. Opening hours will be 9.30am to 3.30pm, tomorrow until Thursday; 9.30am to 1pm, next Friday. Admission free; catalogues available.
