THE first exhibition of the 2010 season at The Shop@Newby Hall, near Ripon, opens on Tuesday from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, with an invitation-only musical evening featuring John Tunnard.

Assembled by The Gallery@Hornseys, this group show will feature the work of Newby’s artist in residence, Ed Kluz, alongside Jonny Hannah, Al Heighton and Michael Kirkman.

“All these artists had an exceptional 2009, with exhibitions at the Scottish Gallery in Edinburgh, St Jude’s Gallery in Norfolk, Castor & Pollux in Brighton, and the Bankside Gallery in London and numerous commissioned projects,” says Daniel Hornsey.

“We’re pleased to represent them in the north of England and this exhibition will feature their new work for 2010.”

It will be the first chance, too, to view the new products selected for the shop this year, including Swedish glassware; creative gifts for children; the designs of Clifford Richards and the Original Metal Box Company; and new ranges of jewellery, lighting and light shades, textiles and furnishings by Lush, Thornback & Peel and Abraham Moon.

Ed Kluz’s new print of Newby Hall has been financed by Hornseys and Newby Hall.
