NICHOLAS King is opening his first solo exhibition in York since 1997 in the upstairs gallery at Pine And Oak Interiors, in Piccadilly, where his fine-art digital prints will be on display from today until October 2.

King’s show, Waking Sleeping Stars, is being hosted by York Artisans chairman Robert Ford and project manager Nigel Finburg, alias Chalky the Yorkie.

“This is a new venture for both Pine And Oak Interiors and the York Artisans, following on from our long-running Art Warehouse summer exhibition, where we featured an eclectic mix of local artistic talent,” says Chalky.

“Once more we’re very grateful to the hospitality shown to us by Glynn Banks and his warehouse staff and also to Kevin Young of Internet Antiques, who have supported the Artisans in this venture.”

Introducing King’s new work, Chalky says: “Nicholas King is a new name in the British art market for digital prints, having up until now concentrated on the production of oil paintings. He’s a local artist and his show is well worth the time to come for a viewing, but it’ll be running for two weeks only, so don’t miss it.”

Alongside King’s prints, Waking Sleeping Stars also features work by Robert Ford, who paints under the soubriquet of Jacob.

Tonight’s private view runs from 7pm to 9pm, and the exhibition opening hours over the next fortnight will be 11am to 4.30pm, Monday to Saturday, and 11am to 4pm on Sundays.
