PROLIFIC York artist Malcolm Ludvigsen is to take part in two exhibitions this week to raise money for charity.

The York Against Cancer Exhibition at the York Guildhall and the Platform Open Annual Art Exhibition at Morphets of Harrogate both will take place from Friday until Sunday with 30 per cent of all sales going to the cancer charity and the NSPCC respectively.

The York exhibition, featuring some of Yorkshire's leading artists, such as Ludvigsen and Jill Ford, will be launched at a glittering preview evening tomorrow, attended by the great and the good of York from 6pm to 8pm. Canapés and "lashings of wine" will be served and tickets cost £15 from the York Against Cancer office on 01904 764466.

Malcolm will be exhibiting half a dozen pictures painted in and around York and the exhibition will continue on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm with free admission.

The Platform Open Art Exhibition, at Morphets Of Harrogate, in Albert Street, Harrogate, will have a private view from 6pm to 9pm on Friday and will be open from 10am to 6pm on Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday. Admission will be free.

On show will be painting, drawing, photography, film, printmaking, textiles, ceramics, glass, sculpture and installation, and among the exhibitors will be Bartosz Beda, Janet Burdon, John Creighton, Ruth Fitton, Andy Fung, Pam Grimmond, Neil McBride, Patrick Smith, Catherine Sutcliffe-Fuller, Sally Taylor and Jenny Zigzag.

Back in York, Malcolm is exhibiting Yorkshire seascapes in the Blossom Street Gallery, next to Micklegate Bar, and new paintings of the River Ouse at Priestley's at No. 36, in Bootham.
