WHY has Nathan Chenery has been off the York art scene radar for a while?

“That’s simply because I’ve been busy doing my Masters degree over at Leeds University,” he says. “I’m now in my second year of part-time study and ready to start showing my work in public again and I’m pleased to say I have an exhibition running throughout November.”

Nathan is exhibiting in York’s newest art space, in the basement of home interiors emporium Priestley’s at No 36 Bootham Road, which explains the gallery name of The White Space 36.

“I’m showing work alongside a good friend and young artist I admire very much, Millie Marten, and we’re calling the show Oscillate.”

The exhibition began in customary fashion with a private view last Thursday evening.

“The opening was a great success with many people turning up and enjoying all that was on show, but we realise there was quite short notice on the event and so we would like to invite everyone back for a Meet The Artists evening on Thursday, November 14, from 6pm to 8pm,” says Nathan.

“This gives everyone a second chance to chat to Millie and me about the art, and you’ll find paintings, drawings and sculptural works and in some places what could be all three.”

Meanwhile, Nathan has been building his new website.

“It’s a work in progress but you can see images of my newer painting that can be found in the exhibition at nathanchenery.wordpress.com,” he says.

“The shop website is at priestleys-york.co.uk or you can follow them on twitter @thewhitespace36 or on Facebook.”
