Droll and disdainful to the end, deadpan headliner Sean Moran cuts through the conventions of modern life with witty, observational tales of his personal mishaps at Tuesday’s Black Comedy @ The Black Swan in York.
“A comedy night with a perfect pH balance is guaranteed,” says promoter and compere James Christopher.
The endearingly ditzy and joyfully surreal Jo Dakin opens the 8.30pm with her upbeat and unorthodox musings, and the support spot goes to gag writer Kelly J Roberts.
Host James will be switching from his trademark cravat to a scarf for the winter nights ahead, further warmed by enthusiastic write-ups of his “self-deprecating, geeky, charming” stand-up in the Wakefield Express and on the chortle.co.uk website
“I’ll be attempting to hide my smugness at garnering such favourable reviews, though I’ll probably still get heckled by my dad on Tuesday,” he says.
• Doors open at 8pm at the Black Swan Inn, Peasholme Green, York. Admission is £4, NUS £3.
