How will York comedy promoter James Christopher spend his landmark 30th birthday?

Fresh from his duties as master of ceremonies at his brother's wedding last weekend, James will be hosting Thursday's 1331 Comedy night at Bar 1331, Grape Lane, York.

"Expect an even greater atmosphere of revelry than usual, as it's my 30th!" he says. "There's a special show to celebrate, with brilliantly surreal, guitar-wielding quipster Ray Kane opening, and the defiantly nerdy Lee Chamberlain in support."

James promises a special guest headliner, "who I'm still trying to secure, but I'll announce it on the website www.myspace.com/1331comedy just as soon as it's confirmed".

"The 1331 staff have vowed to ply me with Jaeger bombs to mark the passing of my twenties, so come and witness my descent into intoxication - though many will have seen that before," he says.

Doors open at 8.30pm for the 9pm start; admission is £6, NUS £5.
