The Other Side Comedy Club's nine-week season of Edinburgh preview shows begins on Sunday with a double bill of Stephens, Grant and Carlin, who each perform a full, hour-long set of new material.

Stephen Grant describes himself as one of life's perpetual runners-up, and so his fifth Edinburgh Fringe outing focuses on his philosophy of not coming first and his explanation of why coming second does not necessarily equate to losing.

"An astonishing commitment to his craft, coupled with an astounding work rate, has lead Stephen to become one of the best underrated acts on the circuit, as anyone who witnessed his preview in York last year will testify," says Other Side promoter Toby Clouston-Jones.

Stephen Carlin, meanwhile, makes his Edinburgh preview debut in York. "A brave and original comic, he manages to warm the crowd into his world," says Toby. "He's very enigmatic, using a unique pattern of delivery with very unexpected and off-the-wall references. His performance takes you into the mind of a passionate obsessive."

Doors open at 7pm for the 7.30pm start. Tickets: £8 on 0871 704 2054.
