MICK Ferry will headline the Laugh Out Loud Comedy Club's June 30 show, with support from Matt Read and Jake Lambert, all introduced by master of ceremonies Damion Larkin at York Barbican.

Ferry, writer for John Bishop’s Britain on BBC1, has starred on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow on the Beeb, as well as Comedy Blue and The Comedy Store on Comedy Central. He made his feature film debut in Ken Loach’s Looking For Eric in 2009, a Cannes film festival hit that was nominated for the Palme d’Or award.

"Mick is a top-class headliner who’s renowned as a fine and imaginative act, so much so that he's one of the most sought-after comics on the British and international comedy circuit," says host Larkin.

"He's much admired among his fellow comics and has been invited to perform as the official tour support not just for Johnny Vegas but for Sean Lock, Peter Kay, Al Murray and Steve Coogan too." In the words of John Bishop: "See him or regret it, a great comedian."

Matt Read is noted for his affable and often spontaneous style. "An effortless jester with the crowd, Matt has a natural connection with audiences that's found in few comics," says Larkin. "Brilliantly sharp with crowds of any type, he has the ability to create rapport with all walks of life; people genuinely love him. As a result, he's hugely in demand, not just in every comedy club in the UK but for an eclectic variety of events from music festivals to burlesque shows."

Jake Lambert is "smashing the circuit" with his youthful charm and quick gags, as heard on BBC Radio 4 and Radio 2. "Jake is a unique performer with a winning combination of one-liners, short stories and original thoughts and as a result he's like nothing you’ve ever seen before," reckons Larkin.

Tickets for the 8pm show cost £17 on 0844 854 2757 or at yorkbarbican.co.uk or £20 on the door from 7.30pm.
