CANADIAN comedian Katherine Ryan and political satirist Jonathan Pie are to play York Barbican on September 29 and February 28 respectively.

Ryan, who describes herself as a single mother with too many pets, presented and wrote the Channel 4 series How Did You Get So Rich? earlier this year and appears regularly on BBC1's QI and Have I Got News For You and Channel 4's Out Of 10 Cats.

Her Netflix Original Comedy Special, filmed at the Hammersmith Eventim Apollo, was released to 190 countries on February 14, and next she is to co-host two back-to-back series of Comedy Central's Your Face Or Mine show with Jimmy Carr.

Ryan will be playing York on her Glitter Room tour, her first since her two nationwide British tours of Kathbum, when she made her Barbican debut in January 2016 after playing The Duchess no fewer than three times in 2015, presenting her Glam Role Model show.

Angrier than ever: Jonathan Pie

Jonathan Pie, whose videos have gone viral across the world, will return to the stage in early 2018 with his second national tour as the frustrated news reporter becomes "angrier than ever" in Back To The Studio.

The man Rory Bremner calls "the most important satirical creation since Alan Partridge" will attempt to host serious discussions on current affairs while simultaneously striving to smash the system from within, as he invites you to join him for "a night of political comedy that soon descends into chaos".

Jonathan Pie is the self-righteous "fake news" creation of actor Tom Walker and has attracted more than 900,0000 Facebook followers; his weekly videos regularly achieve millions of views; his response to the election of Donald Trump has been viewed 120 million times worldwide.
His debut live show last year began at the 70-seater Leicester Square Theatre studio space and was such a hit that it enjoyed a sold-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe, followed by a national tour. #

Written by Walker and Andrew Doyle, Jonathan Pie: Back To The Studio also will play Sheffield City Hall, February 22, Leeds Town Hall, February 23, and Hull City Hall, March 24.

Tickets for Ryan and Pie's York gigs are on sale on 0844 854 2757, at yorkbarbican.co.uk or in person from the Barbican box office. Tickets for Pie's tour shows can be booked at jonathanpie.com
