WILL Al Murray, in The Pub Landlord mode, have taken up his place in the House of Commons should he outwit UKIP's Nigel Farage for the seat of South Thanet in May's General Election before he plays Pocklington Arts Centre on July 17?

Murray, the Guvnor of FUKP, the Free United Kingdom Party, will be in pub philosopher mode when he presents The Pub Landlord's Summer Saloon as he turns pop-up publican in his jumped-up saloon at 8pm.

Comedy, variety and music all will be on tap as the ringmaster of rabble-rousing is joined by special guests Chris Ramsey and Craig Campbell for one Pocklington night only as part of arts centre's menu of mirth.

Gary Delaney, master of the one-liner, and Ivo Graham form the Punchline Comedy Club bill on Thursday, January 29, in the Studio, where Irish/Iranian comic Patrick Monahan performs his Adventures In Monahan Land show on February 26.

On March 28, in the main house, charming storyteller Seann Walsh follows up his 2013 show The Lie-In King with 28, in which he swaps living alone and sorting himself out for now living with a girlfriend, who is trying to sort him out at 28.

Barry Cryer, last seen with his I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue colleagues at York Barbican on January 10, returns to Pock on April 21 in "yet another farewell tour", wherein the 79-year-old "merely seeks to bring a ray of sunshine amid the dark clouds of life" inTwitter Titters. "I'll be enjoying myself," he says. "Do join me."

On the poetry front, Rochdale Cowboy Mike Harding does what it says in the title in An Evening Of Poetry on May 22 and Pam Ayres visits Pock on July 28 on her 40th anniversary tour since emerging on Opportunity Knocks.
