JASON Cook opens the Saturday Night Lounge show in City Screen’s Basement bar in York after completing filming for the second series of his BBC2 sitcom, Hebburn.

Cook stars alongside Jim ‘Vic Reeves’ Moir, Chris Ramsey and Gina McKee in the hit show, as well as writing and co-producing the series, which will resume North Eastern family business from November 12 at 10pm and will include a Christmas Special on Boxing Day.

Alex Boardman returns to the Hyena Lounge Comedy Club this weekend to headline Saturday’s 8pm bill, fresh from writing for John Bishop.

“Alex has been performing stand-up for almost 20 years, after first picking up the microphone when he was just 18, and he’s widely regarded as a go-to writer of TV comedy, having written for Lily Savage, Sports Relief and James Cordon,” says Hyena Lounge promoter Toby Clouston-Jones.

Andre Vincent takes the middle slot only weeks after a Hyena headline gig and Dan Nightingale is the night’s show-stealing compere.

“Boardman, Cook, Vincent and Nightingale are four of favourite acts, and each of them could easily be the show’s headliner,” says Toby.
