UNEMPLOYED York residents are being offered support to help them apply for jobs at the city’s new John Lewis store.

The store, at the £90 million Vangarde shopping complex at Monks Cross, will open next Easter.

Learning City York is working with Job Centre Plus, the National Careers Service, City of York Council and other training providers to help about 70 residents apply for sales, stock and catering roles through pre-employment training.

The John Lewis store will create about 300 jobs.
