I READ with interest the letter from Kenneth Bowker on February 23. Does he really want to ruin even more of our valuable country side by building more reservoirs?

There should be no such thing as a water shortage in this country. We live on an island and are therefore surrounded by water.

Is it beyond the capabilities of the water companies to spend some of their huge profits on the building of desalination plants around the coast?

These could maybe be linked to a national grid to move the water to places of need. Jim Plant, Lady Road, York.
