LAST week I queried the motives of those orchestrating Brexit. With Trump’s visit we kiss goodbye to the ‘what ifs’ and see the face behind the mask.

As far as Trump is concerned what awaits the UK are humiliation and servility. He doesn’t do democracy. Polite and oily enough with tyrants and dictators, all democratic leaders, nations and institutions get from Trump are insults, tantrums and lies.

The idea of a trade deal between the US and UK as equals, with Trump as president, is a fantasy. Everyone knows it but cannot say so.

We also learned more about the hypocrisy of Brexit’s architects. When in 2016 Obama offered his thoughts on Brexit, Jacob Rees-Mogg cried: “No true honest Briton is going to be told what to do by a Yankee President.”

When Trump insults Theresa May and tells her what Brexit he will tolerate, Rees-Mogg grovels and declares it “perfectly reasonable” for Trump to issue instructions.

Agreeing with our EU neighbours how to run our own continent is a democratic outrage to Rees-Mogg but taking orders from a bullying fake-news peddling Trump is absolutely fine. It’s sickening.

We will be in thrall to the USA after Brexit

IT is clear to me that the UK, in withdrawing from the EU, is withdrawing from an alliance of 28 equals and entering into a period of instability where we will be dominated by the USA.

The so called special relationship will obviously not be an alliance of equals but will be a situation where we will be in thrall to the USA.

Although we will nominally be an independent nation we will owe allegiance to the USA, and when President Trump says jump we will only ask “how high?”.

What on earth is our nation coming to that things can go so wrong?

We should be civil to President Trump

Being of a certain age I was always taught that it was important to be civil and courteous to people. And despite a terrible record on many things, President Trump should have been extended this courtesy in Britain.

As a democratically elected leader of the free world his treatment at the hands of the demonstrators is not how Britain should be portrayed to the outside world.

I wonder if Mr Khan as Mayor ever stopped to think of how discourteous the grotesque inflatable was? Corbyn turns his blind eye to all this. Why? Because Momentum tells him to.

Where were these protesters when Putin, Erdogan and the Chinese leader visited? Nowhere to be seen because it did not suit the left wing to be seen to criticise.

How many of those protesters were on state benefit? The pay they receive for a day should be removed from any proven to be protesting.

I at least have the right to control where my tax is spent, and it is certainly not on rent-a-mob.
