WHILE one must admire the Tour de Yorkshire - a wonderful event - careful consideration must be given by the organisers to the huge entourage of back-up teams who seem to find it necessary to chase after the riders.

Two incidents occurred.

In the less serious of these a motorcycle outrider moved forward into the path of two riders causing them to fall from their machines, hopefully without injury.

The second incident, more serious, involved a car which completely demolished the road signage and narrowly missed a volunteer marshal, who had to move extremely quickly to avoid being severely injured.

Both these incidents must be fully investigated before someone is seriously hurt and a real tragedy occurs.
