THE BBC television licence fee is a compulsory charge on every household with a television.

So you would imagine those in charge would spend this income as prudently as possible.

What a silly thought, confirmed when you learn that newsreader Huw Edwards’ ability to read an autocue, composed of other people’s words, commands an eye-watering salary of nearly £600,000 per year.

Even by the liberal largesse standards of the Beeb it is a total insult to the licence payer.

Edwards must be laughing all the way to the bank, along with hundreds of others within the Corporation also extremely well remunerated for doing so little, all at our expense.
