I HAVE read a report in The Press about the neglect of Blue Bridge, and I have just learned of plans to prettify Scarborough Bridge.

Why? Whose idea is it to spend money on altering a perfectly good bridge? Are the people who have come up with this idea going to pay for it, or do they expect the rate payer to pay for it?

The only people who will benefit from this are the architects and builders.

The few people in mobility scooters who may use it have managed for decades to travel 200 yards to Ouse Bridge.

Why change things now?

If there is money to be spent, spend it on Blue Bridge.
