WITH the revelation last week of the obscene amounts of public money paid by the BBC to people of often limited talent, not to mention the discrimination towards women, isn’t it time that this organisation is put out of its misery and told no more public money and that they should have to live in the real world?

Of course all the money the BBC splashes around with gay abandon comes from anyone who wants to watch television, even if they don’t actually want to watch BBC channels.

If you are found watching without a licence you can be prosecuted and many people are every year.

In the main they are the poorest of society, often single mothers, and many end up in prison for not paying their fines.

How does this sit with all those overpaid people working for this bloated anachronism who espouse every cause allegedly supporting the poor and downtrodden?

Finally it shouldn’t be forgotten that the income of the BBC is that large it distorts the whole media market, particularly news.

Surely it’s time the licence fee goes and if it is to survive let it be a commercial concern like all its rivals, competing for both income and staff on a level playing field.
