SO NatWest will close their branch in Haxby because the number of transactions has fallen by 36 per cent since 2011 (The Press, March 24).

Maybe this has nothing to do with opening hours having been reduced from five days a week to three in this time, which seems to me like a 40 per cent decline.

When it closes, the transactions will decline by another 64 per cent. Surprise, surprise.

Online transactions generally may have increased, but can NatWest please explain how I can pay in cash or cheques through my mobile phone or my computer?
