MY husband and I had a smile when we read Emma Clayton’s column (The Press, February 20).

Sometimes it’s best to let it go and saying that Americans won’t put up with bad service so the quality of service everywhere is much higher than in the UK.

Many years ago we had very bad service in a restaurant in Minneapolis and St Paul. With two friends, we went for a meal and had to wait for a table which was no problem.

We got seated and gave our order. We were given garlic bread to chew on while waiting for our meal. We were still waiting 40 minutes later.

We had a word with the waiter. He apologised and brought more bread etc.

As time went on the two men started to get annoyed as we noticed other people who had come in after us got their meals.

I got so frustrated that I got up and walked out and my husband followed me.

It was the worst service we have ever had anywhere.
