I THINK that most people would agree that the UK has many very big problems, and our politicians of all colours do not appear to have positive realistic solutions.
Our NHS is almost in crisis. It cannot cope with the ever increasing numbers.
Crime is on the increase. The North/South divide is getting wider.
Yorkshire (North, South, Central, East and West) is constantly arguing among itself over who wields what and which powers.
The privatised rail companies are a disgrace, with higher and higher fares but ever worse service.
Our education system leaves much to be desired. Our energy companies are mostly foreign owned and their pricing policies are so complex.
Care for the elderly and mentally ill is a shambles.
Industry is coping very well, despite the immense problems of the very slow exit from the EU.
Litter, pollution, fly tipping, destruction of green areas are all getting more frequent. The list of faults is so long.
We need to start again. We should copy the methods and policies of the most successful and prosperous nation - Germany.
Germany has 16 Lander (area states) in a nation of similar size and type to us.
The basic tenet of their system is that certain policies are decided at state level, whereas others are the preserve of the federal government.
It is a very much more democratic system than ours.
If you go over there you see that it works.
