CLIFFORD’S Tower is an iconic medieval building.

The visitor centre should therefore be of a similar architectural style in the form of a medieval gate house, rather than the proposed neoclassical design, which too clearly relates to another century.

If they are committed to the existing design it should be resited within Clifford’s Tower or alternatively to the car park elevation, thus preserving the integrity of the tower.

The car park is a real financial asset, bringing in hundreds of thousands of pounds year on year, and should be retained, both as a prime asset and as the favoured car park of York and surrounding area residents.
