DEPUTY Chief Constable Tim Madgwick leaves North Yorkshire Police today after almost 30 years with the force.
Much has changed in the world of law enforcement since Mr Madgwick started pounding the beat as a constable in York in 1988, but he has remained an effective, efficient and articulate policeman prepared to speak his mind on key issues such as the ongoing battle to stamp out drink-driving.
The county will miss a senior officer of his experience and standing, and the city of York will miss having a voice of influence at the very top of North Yorkshire Police.
Good luck in your retirement, Mr Madgwick.
