WHEN recycling in York was rolled out over a period of years it stopped short of Kexby and parts of Dunnington.
For years residents in these areas have not been able to have glass or garden waste collected for recycling as they were on a rural route whose vehicles were not equipped to do it.
Both myself and the parish council have been pressing for this to be rectified and now our Conservative-led administration has made this possible.
From April, 800 rural properties, including those on the Kexby route, will receive a full recycling service.
People in Kexby have always been keen to reduce the amount of rubbish going to landfill but unlike most of York they didn’t have a doorstop service.
I am delighted that not only has a review of the service meant that the Kexby route will get garden rubbish and glass recycling, but that a significant financial saving will also be made.
Cllr Jenny Brooks, Conservative, Osbaldwick and Derwent Ward, Dunnington, York
