I AM incensed by many things in this country, but I think the HS2 rail link epitomises a lot of them.

I heard that the tracks have to be taken another new route, not only still demolishing many farms, woodlands, going through greenbelt and people’s homes.

The new route plans to knock down new housing that is still being built.

Well, what sense does this make?

The government has been forcing austerity on us for years. They have cut vital services, bringing the NHS and many other emergency services to their knees, encouraging private healthcare and basically privatising everything for those who can afford it.

Yet apparently we can afford billions of pounds on a new rail link.

Why can’t we upgrade our present rail links?

Knocking down new housing when we keep being told we need more housing? What is this all about?

It’s like saying we can’t afford to eat, but we can afford a new designer handbag.
