COULD it be we have found a worthy successor to the late ex-PM Margaret Thatcher in Theresa May? Let us hope so.

It would be marvellous to think, in Theresa May, we have a PM who will fight our corner in, firstly, extricating us from the soon to be doomed EU as quickly as possible, to getting the best deals in the wider world our freedom from the despised EU will bring.

Theresa May is displaying the steel backbone Maggie had.

Would she, as Maggie did, go to the rescue of the Falklands should Argentina try invading again?

I rather think she would whereas I couldn’t see ex-PM David Cameron taking such a bold step. He would be more for negotiations.

There are some MPs hoping to overturn the Out result by holding another referendum but Theresa May is ploughing ahead in getting us out of the EU as quickly as she can and she won’t brook such nonsense.

Those renegade MPs should look toward the speech Maggie made in 1980 when she memorably said: “To those waiting with bated breath for that favourite media catastrophe, the U-turn, I have only one thing to say: You turn if you want to. The lady’s not for turning.”

This, no doubt, will be the credo Theresa May adheres to when the date for our adoption of Article 50 is announced and the doom-mongers try their best to overturn her decision.

An excellent PM as history will duly record.
