THE Press (September 15) had an excellent article on the policing involved on last Tuesday's football match between York City and Tranmere.
It was quite clear that there was considerable police input, not only from North Yorkshire but Merseyside and British Transport too.
It is clear that these resources would not have been deployed on York streets etc had the football match not taken place.
There are significant cost implications from this exercise at a time when North Yorkshire Police are having to make cutbacks in other areas.
Can the Chief Constable or Police and Crime Commissioner therefore confirm that the full cost of this operation will be recovered from York City FC?
Or is this another case of the taxpayer unwittingly supporting a private organisation?
