SINCE 1998, every time I visit the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet at Naburn, I keep wondering where the delivery ward might be for the old Naburn Maternity Hospital.

Like other parents of the same age group, I look back to the very special and life changing day when my wife gave birth to our son at the hospital.

There are thousands of York parents, their children and some grandchildren, whose first day on earth was at a spot somewhere on the shopping site - and now their feet tread the avenues and shops.

I think it would be a nice touch to find out from the McArthurGlen and Naburn Maternity Hospital architects plans, exactly where the delivery ward and table existed - by superimposing them both - and then mark its significance with a plaque outside and inside the store, to commemorate the historic birth place that applies to the majority of York people?

The designer centre may be a reflection of the world’s most sought-after brands and clothes, but we can’t put a price on the value of our children - but a mark up would add amusement for a few generations.
