I AM glad the council have seen sense in getting rid of the A-boards (The Press, August 18).
I walk around town daily and in Petergate you have to walk in the road most of the time as some A-boards and plant pots take up over 50 per cent of the width of the footpath.
Recently I counted 44 A-boards etc and Purpleman in Stonegate and 25 obstructions in Low Petergate.
I can sympathise with some as their shops are out of the way but some A-boards are a hazard to us poor pedestrians.
As I walk along with my old mate we invariably walk on the road to get round obstacles and the tourists and locals who congregate.
I prefer the tourists - at least they move.
