THERE is a little gem in Walmgate which stands approximately 6ft to 8ft above surrounding ground level called St Denys Church.

Dating back to 1154, it has seen many changes, historically, in structure and style of fashions. It has been used by generations of families.

It is still regarded by many to be a welcoming place of worship with its beautiful stained glass windows, a font for baptisms and the guarantee of a meaningful service by the clergy.

The church council and congregation strive to maintain a spiritual awareness of Christ as well as acting as hosts to many events in the name of fundraising for the upkeep and maintenance of the church.

The news that the Heritage Lottery have agreed to support urgently needed work on the north aisle in St Denys has been gratefully received.

Every effort will be made to assist the work in progress, aptly thought of as “living in harmony with God”.

World events require spiritual guidance through prayer. All are welcome to join us at St Denys.
