SINCE the Spring 2016 conference the Green Party is one of the most, if not the most, LGBT friendly political parties.
The York Green Party believes in freedom of speech and expression. We uphold anybody’s right to those human rights. However, as a party that is built on equality and inclusion, we found the content of the letter (May 18) homophobic and demeaning to LGBT people in York.
The Green Party has a progressive history of LGBT rights for example advocating for equal marriage, mandatory education for inclusive LGBTIQ education in schools, to reform the spousal veto concerning trans people, as well as supporting the right of polyamorous people.
York Green Party will be attending York Pride on June 18 as it creates and fosters a sentiment towards a society based on equality and acceptance.
