CITY of York Council seem determined to build 655 houses on a lovely piece of green belt land and former battlefield off Fordlands Road.
The builder, Persimmon, says of course they will prevent flooding by building a wall and raising the road, plus having tanks for holding the surplus water.
There are two brownfield sites the council seem to ignore. One is a former garage facing Cemetery Road with a small forest growing on it, derelict for 30 years, and the other is a much larger one in Piccadilly.
Walls will not stop flood water if flood water can destroy bridges, ie Tadcaster and Elland.
I understand Fulford Parish Council are trying to request a revocation from the Secretary of State. All Fulford residents support them.
